Back-of-house software provider Decision Logic launched two new products Tuesday designed to move restaurant managers off back-office computers and onto the floor: Vitals, a real-time performance dashboard, and ShiftFlow, a mobile task-management workflow. Both tools are available now, with beta customers already live ahead of the company's showcase at FSTEC 2026.
The Products
Vitals surfaces 34 near-real-time metrics across four categories — 14 performance indicators, 11 labor metrics, five productivity measures, and four adjustment-risk signals (voids, discounts, and similar flags). The aim is to give a general manager an early-warning view of whether sales are tracking to forecast, whether labor is running over schedule, or whether an employee is approaching overtime — all while there is still time to intervene. At launch, Vitals integrates with Toast and Qu point-of-sale systems, with additional POS integrations on the roadmap.
ShiftFlow addresses the operational side of the same problem. The tool consolidates recurring tasks, above-store directives, and in-the-moment manager needs into a single mobile workflow supporting nine task types: scheduled orders, inventories, line checks, maintenance, closing activities, manager reminders, and notification reminders. Tasks can be generated automatically from existing schedules, pushed down from above-store leaders, or created on the fly. ShiftFlow carries no POS dependency, meaning it can be deployed independently of the Vitals rollout.
Why It Matters for Operators
The product rationale is squarely aimed at the multi-unit operator pain point of manager turnover. Decision Logic cites a 28% annual turnover rate among restaurant managers — a figure consistent with broader foodservice industry data — as a core design constraint. When an experienced GM leaves, institutional knowledge about shift cadence, line-check timing, and labor intervention tends to leave with them. ShiftFlow is meant to encode that process so a new manager can perform consistently faster, reducing the ramp-up period that typically follows a leadership change.
For above-store leaders — area coaches, district managers, and operations directors — the combination of Vitals and ShiftFlow creates a visibility layer that previously required either a physical visit or a lag-day report. Real-time labor and sales signals mean a regional operator can spot a problem location before end-of-day rather than in a weekly summary.
"Vitals answers, 'How are we doing?' ShiftFlow answers, 'What needs to happen next?'" said Keegan Conrey, CEO of Decision Logic. "Put those together and you give managers a much better chance to change the outcome of a shift instead of explaining the outcome after it's over."
Competitive Context
The back-of-house technology segment has attracted sustained investment as multi-unit foodservice operators — including the growing number of convenience retailers running full foodservice programs — look for ways to offset labor cost pressure and reduce shrink. Platforms that unify labor scheduling, food cost variance, and task management under one interface have become a differentiator for chains managing dozens or hundreds of units. Decision Logic's existing customer base includes Golden Corral, Taco John's, Twin Peaks, RibCrib BBQ, and 54th Street Restaurants, skewing toward full-service and fast-casual chains that operate complex back-of-house environments.
For c-store operators expanding foodservice and commissary operations, the real-time labor and food-cost signals in Vitals address the same margin-protection imperatives driving technology adoption across the broader away-from-home eating sector. As convenience retailers add made-to-order programs and increase kitchen complexity, the manager-execution gap that Vitals and ShiftFlow target becomes directly relevant to the forecourt-to-kitchen operation.
