Hard Rock Cafe and Coca-Cola have launched Hard Rock Rising, a global music competition running across 64 Hard Rock Cafe locations in 34 countries, designed to give emerging singer-songwriters, bands, and DJs a credentialed path toward a recording career. The grand prize includes a Coke Studio recording session, $10,000 in cash, and a live performance slot at Hard Rock Orlando.

The program carries a direct food-and-beverage component: a limited-time menu of cocktails made with Coca-Cola products will run at participating Cafes during the competition window, and co-branded merchandise — including a Hard Rock Rising tee and an apparel collection developed with streetwear label Cult of Individuality — will be available at Rock Shops and online. That kind of tied promotional calendar, linking a limited-time beverage offer to a live-event series, mirrors tactics increasingly common across hospitality foodservice operators looking to drive incremental traffic alongside cultural programming.

How the Competition Works

Artist submissions are open through August 18; each applicant must submit two original songs. Live competition rounds are scheduled for September 2, 9, 16, and 23 at participating Cafe locations, with local fan votes advancing artists through successive rounds. The Coke Studio team — led by multi-platinum, GRAMMY- and Juno-nominated executive producer Rob Rettberg — then selects the global winner, to be announced October 5. Rettberg described the partnership as combining "Hard Rock's unparalleled reach and iconic stages" with Coke Studio's production infrastructure.

Beverage and Brand Tie-In

For Hard Rock International President of Cafe and Retail Eric Martino, Hard Rock Rising is positioned as a programmatic extension of the brand's decades-long investment in live music — from open-mic nights and Battle of the Bands events to artist residencies — now amplified through Coca-Cola's Coke Studio platform. "Together with Coca-Cola, we're proud to provide a platform where musicians can be seen, heard and celebrated in their communities," Martino said.

For foodservice and hospitality operators, the model is worth watching: a major restaurant chain activating a multi-month, multi-market live-music series with a beverage supplier as co-presenting partner — and anchoring limited-time menu items to that event cadence — is a proven mechanism for driving visit frequency and check size. The convenience channel has similarly seen dispensed beverage and limited-time offer strategy gain traction as operators seek differentiation beyond fuel. Coca-Cola's Coke Studio platform, originally centered on L.A. Live, now extends its footprint through Hard Rock's global cafe network — a reach that few single-brand beverage activations can match.

Full competition details, rules, and participating Cafe locations are available at cafe.hardrock.com/hard-rock-rising. The program is reported via the Food & Beverage Magazine network. Operators tracking beverage partnership trends in foodservice should note the Coke Studio co-branding model as a replicable activation framework.
