Lay's is dropping five limited-time holiday flavors into snack aisles nationwide starting October 25, giving convenience retailers a fresh impulse-buy play heading into the highest-traffic weeks of Q4.

The Lay's Holi-LAY'S lineup — developed by PepsiCo Foods — spans the full holiday table, from savory centerpiece chips to sweet-and-salty dessert varieties. The rollout is staggered across three dates, giving operators multiple resets to drive repeat basket rings.

The Five SKUs

The first two SKUs hit shelves October 25: Lay's Cheddar Scalloped-Style Potatoes and Lay's Roasted Holiday Turkey. On November 8, Lay's Maple Bacon makes its U.S. retail debut after existing as a market-specific variety abroad — PepsiCo is positioning it as a stocking-stuffer candidate. The final two, Lay's Wavy Milk Chocolate and Lay's Wavy Dubai-Style Dark Chocolate (the latter featuring pistachios), arrive December 1 at select retailers before a broader 2027 expansion.

The chocolate-covered Wavy formats target the sweet-and-salty crossover segment that has shown consistent growth in snack and candy categories at convenience — a space where premium impulse items command higher ring and stronger margin than core salty-snack staples.

Why It Matters for C-Stores

For forecourt-to-counter operators, LTO flavor programs from Lay's carry meaningful sell-through velocity. Seasonal varieties generate trial from existing Lay's loyalists who aren't simply substituting — they're buying in addition to their usual bag. That incremental unit lift is the core argument for allocating premium snack-wall real estate to the full five-SKU set rather than cherry-picking one or two flavors.

PepsiCo Foods cites internal survey data showing 78% of consumers consider food a great holiday gift, with 55% preferring it over clothing or candles. The data, drawn from a RepData online survey of 1,000 nationally representative U.S. adults fielded in August 2026, underpins the brand's gifting-occasion merchandising angle — relevant for single-store operators (SSOs) running impulse displays near the register or at the forecourt kiosk.

"The holidays are all about gathering around the table with friends and family, and food plays an important role in those celebrations," said Denise Truelove, Senior Vice President of Marketing, PepsiCo Foods. The lineup, she noted, is designed for snacking both before and after the holiday meal — a framing that extends the consumption occasion beyond the gift scenario.

Sweepstakes & In-Store Activation

Starting October 26, shoppers can scan qualifying Lay's bags to enter the Happy Holi-Lay's Sweepstakes at HappyHoli-Lays.com, with prizes ranging from branded chip bowls and a Lay's x Le Creuset casserole to a tile game set. For c-store operators, the on-pack scan mechanic functions as a built-in register prompt — a light-lift activation that doesn't require dedicated in-store signage investment.

Retailers looking to capitalize on the seasonal window should note the compressed timeline: the Wavy chocolate SKUs debut just 24 days before Christmas, making December reset planning critical. Operators who carry the full holiday salty-snack assortment into November and December typically outperform on inside-sales comp during the gifting stretch.
