Link Snacks' Lorissa's Organic Snacks brand is rolling out what it calls the meat snack category's only product line holding simultaneous USDA Organic and certified Top 9 Allergen-Free status, landing the sticks at select Target stores nationwide and on Target.com effective October 1.
The lineup launches in three SKUs — Original Beef, Jalapeño Beef, and Savory Herb Turkey — each sold in a five-count multipack of individually wrapped 1.15-ounce sticks. Original Beef and Jalapeño Beef each deliver 10 grams of protein and 110 calories per stick; the Savory Herb Turkey version posts 12 grams of protein at 80 calories. All three carry zero sugar and are naturally fermented without encapsulated lactic acid, a formulation detail that matters to better-for-you shoppers parsing ingredient labels.
Why the Dual Cert Matters
Organic and allergen-free certifications have each moved independently through the meat snack aisle for years, but pairing them under third-party verification in a single SKU is a harder bar to clear. The Top 9 designation covers milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame — the FDA's current mandatory allergen list. For c-store buyers eyeing the category, the Target placement signals that a national mass retailer has vetted the supply chain and label claims, which can simplify the due-diligence conversation when the brand eventually pitches the channel.
Meat snacks remain one of the strongest margin contributors in the packaged-snack set for convenience retailers. The category has benefited from sustained consumer interest in high-protein, portable formats — a trend that aligns directly with the grab-and-go demand pattern that defines forecourt and in-store impulse purchases. Better-for-you attributes, including organic sourcing and allergen transparency, have increasingly migrated from natural-grocery into mainstream convenience assortments as operators refresh their packaged snack sets.
Founder's Framing
"As a mom whose son has severe food allergies, I know how much trust goes into choosing a snack," said Lorissa Link, founder of Lorissa's Organic Snacks. "That's why we believe in providing consumers with proof, not just promises, through our certified organic ingredients and independent third-party allergen certification." The personal backstory gives the brand a differentiated retail narrative beyond a spec sheet — a posture that resonates in a meat stick segment crowded with legacy brands competing primarily on flavor and price.
Parent company Link Snacks, the Minong, Wisconsin-based family-owned manufacturer behind Jack Link's, brings substantial co-manufacturing scale and retail execution muscle to the Lorissa's rollout. That infrastructure — the company operates facilities across 11 countries — reduces the fulfillment risk that can derail a smaller brand's first major mass-retail placement. For c-store category managers tracking supplier reliability, the Link Snacks parentage is relevant context. Operators interested in where better-for-you meat snacks are heading should also note the growing role of clean-label protein in convenience foodservice programs.
