PepsiCo Foods' Good Warrior brand is moving from the meat-snack set to the bar section, launching a three-SKU protein bar line with 15 grams of protein and 7 grams of sugar or less per bar. Two varieties — Marshmallow Bar in Sweet Cocoa and Brownie Crisp in Cookie Dough — are available now at select U.S. retailers; a third, Cremewich in Cookies & Cream, rolls out in early 2027. All three are made without artificial preservatives or flavors and deliver complete protein containing all nine essential amino acids.
Why the Bar Format, Why Now
The launch follows Good Warrior's debut Beef Sticks — Original and Jalapeño Pepper — introduced earlier this year, making bars the masterbrand's second product category. The timing tracks closely with internal PepsiCo Foods research showing 59% of Americans say they are eating more protein than a year ago, and 86% report actively adding protein to their diet. More than half of those consumers say snacking occasions are a primary vehicle for hitting protein targets — a dynamic that has reshaped the protein-snack and bar set inside the c-store channel, where grab-and-go convenience is a natural match for functional nutrition formats.
"Consumers are looking for more from their snacks today — whether that's added protein, fiber, select ingredients, or all of the above — and great taste remains non-negotiable," said Hernán Tantardini, Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo Foods U.S. "Good Warrior Bars offer a convenient option for busy people who don't want to compromise on taste or functional benefits."
Fit Inside a Growing PepsiCo Functional Portfolio
Good Warrior's bar launch slots into a broader PepsiCo Foods push into functional better-for-you formats that includes Doritos Protein, SmartFood Fiber Pop coated popcorn, SunChips Fiber whole grain and black bean snacks, Quaker Protein Granola Bars, and Quaker Protein Old Fashioned Oats. For c-store operators, that breadth matters: a supplier with a coordinated functional portfolio gives category managers a cleaner planogram story — protein bars near the roller grill and dispensed-beverage station, beef sticks in the meat-snack section — rather than a one-SKU pitch requiring separate sell-in conversations.
The protein bar segment has become one of the more contested spaces in c-store packaged snacks, with regional and national chains expanding dedicated nutrition-bar facings as daypart traffic shifts toward on-the-go meal replacement occasions. A brand backed by PepsiCo's DSD infrastructure gives Good Warrior meaningful velocity potential at independent single-store operators and large-format chains alike. Additional Good Warrior products are slated for announcement in 2027, signaling that PepsiCo intends to treat the masterbrand as a long-term platform rather than a limited launch.
