Mars Snacking North America's Pringles brand is rolling two innovations into retail this September: Pringles Dippers, a new thicker-crisp sub-line in three flavors, and a Sweet & Salty addition to the Mingles puffed-snack lineup. Both are positioned as impulse-driven snack plays — the kind of incremental SKUs that tend to show up first in high-velocity convenience formats.
What's in the Set
Pringles Dippers are the brand's first crisp engineered around a dipping occasion. The reformulated shape is thicker and wavier than a standard Pringle, designed to hold up under heavier dip loads without breaking — a recurring consumer frustration that Eileen Flaherty-Yao, Senior Director of Salty at Mars Snacking North America, cited directly. "We know it can be frustrating if your typical salty dipping vessel prevents your perfect scoop or breaks as you dip," Flaherty-Yao said. Three flavors launch at shelf: Original, French Onion, and Bacon Cheddar, the latter pairing smoky and cheese notes in a single crisp that the brand says works equally well eaten plain.
Mingles, the bowtie-shaped puffed snack line Pringles introduced as a can-free extension, picks up a Sweet & Salty variety. The new flavor balances brown butter sweetness against a salty finish — a flavor profile that has driven strong velocity across the broader better-for-you and premium snack segments.
C-Store Shelf Relevance
For convenience operators, both launches land squarely in the salty-snack category, which remains one of the highest-margin inside-sales segments at the forecourt. Stackable and recognizable packaging — Pringles canisters in particular — perform well in clip-strip and secondary placement situations common to the c-store floor. A dip-specific SKU also creates natural cross-merchandising potential alongside refrigerated dips and ready-to-eat meal components, an area where operators have been expanding foodservice adjacencies in recent resets.
The Mingles extension, meanwhile, plays into the ongoing premiumization of the salty-snack wall. Single-serve and shareable-format snacks have outpaced standard chip SKUs on a per-unit-margin basis at many chains, according to category data that has informed recent planogram resets at regional c-store operators. A new flavor in an established sub-brand is a lower-risk way for buyers to add variety without sacrificing facings on proven movers.
Timing and Availability
Both innovations reach retailers nationwide starting in September 2026, putting them in line with fall reset cycles. Mars Snacking, which folded Pringles into its portfolio through the Kellanova acquisition, reported combined net sales of more than $65 billion for the combined Mars-Kellanova business in 2025 — scale that typically translates into strong promotional support and supply reliability at launch, two factors c-store buyers weigh heavily when taking on new SKUs.
For operators evaluating the fall salty-snack reset, Pringles Dippers represent a differentiated format bet: if the dip-specific occasion holds at convenience, the sub-line could earn permanent placement. Mingles Sweet & Salty is a lower-commitment trial given the Mingles format is already in distribution.
