Halloween is the second-biggest candy-selling event on the c-store calendar, and Sour Patch Kids is leaning into it with three new limited-time SKUs and a cross-category foodservice tie-in with Wingstop, both hitting the market before the end of October.

Mondelēz International's candy brand is rolling out Monster Parts (Black Raspberry, Orange, Watermelon; 8.88 oz., $4.29 SRP), Tricksters (a mystery-flavor theater box; 3.52 oz., $1.50 SRP), and Glow Ups Ghosts — Orange and Peach candies with turmeric-extract edible confetti that glows under blacklight, packed in 8.37 oz. at $4.29 SRP. Treat-size multipacks run from 22 to 250 count, with a starting SRP of $4.29, covering the growing c-store occasion of grab-and-go Halloween gifting.

The Wingstop Angle

The more channel-relevant development for operators tracking foodservice-at-cstore crossover trends is the Wingstop collaboration. Starting October 27 through November 5, participating Wingstop locations will offer a limited-time SOUR PATCH KIDS Wicked Punch flavor — a REDBERRY-flavored sour-then-sweet glaze topped with Sour Patch Kids Bitz — available across all proteins. Club Wingstop loyalty members get early access beginning October 23. The tie-in is a textbook example of candy brands using QSR partnerships to extend seasonal relevance beyond the candy aisle and into prepared-food occasions, a strategy with clear downstream implications for c-store foodservice programs competing for the same snack dollar.

What It Means for the Candy Set

Halloween seasonal candy is a high-velocity, short-window category for convenience retailers. NACS data consistently shows confectionery as a top-five inside-sales category, and Halloween drives a meaningful share of fourth-quarter candy turns. The new Sour Patch Kids lineup gives single-store operators and chains alike a branded peg to build seasonal displays around, with price points spanning the $1.50 impulse-buy theater box up through the $4.29 laydown bag — a range that fits both the register counter and a dedicated seasonal gondola.

Lauryn McDonough, senior director of candy at Mondelēz International, framed the push as an extension of the brand's core identity. "Halloween is about stepping outside the ordinary," she said, "and SOUR PATCH KIDS has always brought that spirit to the candy category with unexpected SOUR THEN SWEET twists."

For c-store buyers, the practical question is shelf placement and reset timing. With the Wingstop activation generating consumer awareness through late October, retailers that stock the new SKUs in the second week of October can ride the media cycle through the Halloween weekend — then clear for the holiday reset. The Glow Ups Ghosts blacklight feature also creates an in-store display opportunity that differentiates the set from standard seasonal candy fixtures. Mondelēz's broader snack portfolio, which posted approximately $36.4 billion in 2024 net revenues, gives the company the retail execution muscle to support sell-through with trade support programs.

Operators looking for seasonal candy category strategy or foodservice collaboration trends in the channel will want to confirm planogram timing with their Mondelēz rep ahead of the October 19 campaign launch.
