The Lineup

Whataburger is rolling out four limited-time offerings beginning Oct. 20, pairing a spicy sandwich platform with two seasonal beverage builds ahead of the holiday traffic window. The San Antonio-based chain, which operates more than 1,200 units across 17 states, is betting that bold heat and festive sips can move guests from the drive-thru lane into higher-ticket combo rings.

On the food side, the returning Bacon Blaze Jalapeño Double anchors the lineup at $9.99 — two fresh 100% beef patties stacked with jalapeño ranch, jalapeño cream cheese, smoky bacon, sliced jalapeños, and aged cheddar on a toasted bun. A Jr. size version starts at $7.99. Joining it is the new Bacon Blaze Chicken, which ports the same flavor profile onto grilled or Whatachick'n breast on a toasted potato bun, also starting at $7.99. The chicken variant extends the platform's reach into a faster-growing protein segment without requiring separate sourcing infrastructure.

Beverage Builds

The beverage pair targets the dispensed-drink and shake categories that have become meaningful contributors to QSR foodservice programs in recent years. The Sleigh Berry Whatafresher — starting at $3.69 — layers tart cranberry, citrus, and soft whip with real cranberry pieces, squarely in the customizable refresher format that chains from Sonic to Casey's have leaned into as a traffic driver. The White Chocolate Raspberry Shake starts at $4.99, framing a white chocolate-raspberry cheesecake flavor profile in a creamy vanilla base.

Whataburger Corporate Chef James Sanchez said guests are seeking both spicy variety and beverages that feel seasonal, noting the lineup delivers a returning fan favorite alongside new formats built for the time of year.

Operator Context

For c-store and QSR operators watching limited-time foodservice strategy, the Whataburger drop illustrates a broader industry pattern: pairing a heat-forward protein platform with lower-ring beverage entries to widen occasion coverage without overloading the kitchen. Spicy menu items have consistently outperformed baseline SKUs in recent NACS and Datassential tracking, and the sub-$4.00 beverage tier remains a battleground for incremental visits.

The full lineup is available at participating locations for a limited time. Guests ordering through the Whataburger app receive loyalty points toward future purchases; new account holders receive a free Whataburger upon signup. Prices vary by location.
