WILDE, the Lexington, Ky.-based brand behind chicken-breast-based protein chips and crackers, has closed a $40 million growth round led by S2G Investments — capital the company says will fund a sixfold expansion of production capacity, new product formats, and a broader brand push across a retail footprint that already tops 35,000 locations nationwide.

The raise gives WILDE — available at wildebrands.com — a clear runway to press deeper into convenience and mass retail as protein-forward snacking continues to outpace traditional salty snacks on c-store shelves. The company has crossed $100 million in cumulative sales and recently opened a 130,000-square-foot manufacturing facility it describes as the only USDA-regulated salty snack plant in the world.

The Growth Thesis

For S2G, whose portfolio spans food, agriculture, and energy infrastructure, the bet is that WILDE can leverage a proven SKU — Protein Chips delivering 10-plus grams of protein per serving — into a broader snacking platform. The brand's recently launched Protein Crackers, made from chicken breast and real cheese, signals that ambition. Additional formats are in development, though the company did not specify timing or categories.

"Building WILDE has never been easy. We started this company to prove that protein snacks don't have to taste like punishment," said Jason Wright, Founder and CEO of WILDE. "Now we have the firepower to go bigger, move faster, and shake up a whole lot more of the snack aisle."

Arthur Chow, Principal, Food & Agriculture at S2G, pointed to the Protein Crackers launch as a standout signal of the brand's platform potential. "Jason created a standout product with Protein Chips, but what excites us most is the opportunity ahead as a snacking platform," Chow said.

C-Store Shelf Implications

Protein snacking is one of the fastest-growing segments in convenience retail, with better-for-you and high-protein positioning increasingly driving impulse purchase alongside traditional roller-grill and dispensed-beverage dayparts. WILDE's wide retail distribution — spread across grocery, mass, and specialty — puts it in direct contention for prime impulse real estate in the c-store snack set, where operators have been expanding better-for-you snack facings at the expense of legacy chip brands.

The new production facility's scale matters here: with capacity growing sixfold, WILDE will have the throughput to support promotional programs, seasonal SKUs, and private-label conversations that a constrained manufacturer could not have credibly pursued. For single-store operators and regional chains evaluating the protein snack fixture, consistent supply is as important as velocity data.

The $40 million tranche will also fund a refresh of WILDE's visual identity and packaging — a move that tends to precede aggressive trade-marketing pushes and signals the brand is preparing for a step-change in consumer-facing investment.
