Angry Chickz will open its Mesa location at 2015 S. Alma School Rd., Suite 102 on April 17, marking another expansion for David Mkhitaryan's Nashville hot chicken concept. The grand opening kicks off at 11 a.m. with limited-edition jerseys for the first 100 guests and an on-site raffle offering free Angry Chickz for a year to one of the first 500 attendees.
Founded in 2018 from a small East Hollywood storefront, Angry Chickz has built its business on made-to-order tenders, sliders, and bowls with customizable heat levels. The brand's growth has earned recognition from QSR, Nation's Restaurant News, and Fast Casual as it expands across the fast-casual hot chicken category.
The Mesa opening will feature performances from Westwood High School's Spirit Line and Band, connecting the brand to the local community. Additional raffle entries and prizes will be available through online registration ahead of the event.
The concept's customizable spice tolerance system—letting diners dial their own heat—has proven effective for repeat visits and word-of-mouth growth. That formula is now being tested in new markets like Mesa as Mkhitaryan scales beyond the brand's Southern California roots. Whether Angry Chickz can maintain consistency and energy as it grows will determine if this becomes a regional player or just another hot chicken concept that peaked too early.
