Cheez-It is rolling out a limited-edition Coors Light Beer Cheese flavored cracker this August — its first collaboration with a beer brand — priced at $4.99 per box at retailers nationwide while supplies last.
The cracker is baked with 100% real cheese and engineered to replicate the flavor profile of a classic beer cheese spread: savory, tangy, with toasted spice notes. The timing is deliberate. Mars, Incorporated, which owns the Cheez-It brand following its Kellanova acquisition, is pitching the product as a seasonal bridge item that carries through summer barbecues into fall football tailgate occasions — a high-velocity snacking window for c-store operators.
C-Store Shelf Opportunity
For convenience retailers, the launch lands squarely in a salty snack segment that continues to outperform broader center-store categories. Cross-branded limited-edition SKUs — especially those pairing a snack staple with an alcohol brand cue — have demonstrated strong impulse lift at the forecourt and in the grab-and-go cooler adjacency, where shoppers already index high for beer and snack combo purchases. At $4.99, the box sits comfortably above the everyday cracker price point, supporting stronger per-transaction ring without requiring a significant planogram overhaul.
The product's "while supplies last" positioning also creates a scarcity signal that operators can activate through endcap placement or secondary displays near the beer cooler — a straightforward merchandising tactic that has worked for other LTO salty snacks in the convenience channel.
Brand Voices
"Our obsessed fans are constantly looking for bold new ways to enjoy Cheez-It, and we had the golden opportunity to bring one of America's favorite dips to life in a whole new way," said Nicole Sorensen, Vice President of Marketing for Cheez-It.
Matt Carpenter, Vice President of Marketing for the Coors Family of Brands at Molson Coors, framed the partnership around existing consumer behavior. "Fans already love reaching for a cold Coors Light when they're snacking on game day, so finding a way to bring our crisp, refreshing beer flavors to life in a real-deal beer cheese flavored snack just made sense."
Mars, the $65 billion-plus family-owned parent company behind Cheez-It, Pringles, M&M's, and Snickers, has been accelerating cross-category brand activations since closing the Kellanova deal. The Coors Light tie-up fits a broader snack portfolio strategy that leans into occasions-based marketing — a playbook c-store buyers will recognize from similar LTO moves by PepsiCo and Frito-Lay in recent years.
Operators should expect consumer awareness to be supported by social media activation across both @CheezIt and @CoorsLight channels, which should drive some store-level foot traffic for retailers who merchandise the product visibly near beer or in a dedicated tailgate-season display.
