The New Format

Ferrara is moving six of its longest-running candy brands into a 2.5-ounce, $1 Pocket Pack format, targeting the impulse-purchase corridor where convenience stores consistently outperform other channels. Everlasting Gobstopper, Lemonhead, Bottle Caps, Jujyfruits, Red Hots and Runts are now shipping to select retailers, with full national distribution slated to begin this September.

The $1 price point is deliberate. Candy and snack confections at or below $1 remain among the highest-velocity SKUs at the checkout counter, and a 2.5-ounce grab-and-go pouch fits squarely in the impulse zone that c-store operators protect most carefully. For single-store operators and regional chains alike, a recognizable brand name at a sharp price is often all the merchandising muscle needed to move product from a clip strip or countertop display.

Brand Depth and Channel Fit

The six SKUs span hard candy, chewy gummy and jawbreaker segments — giving category managers a way to satisfy multiple texture preferences without expanding their total brand count. Red Hots carries nearly a century of retail history; Jujyfruits date to the 1940s. That heritage cuts through crowded confection sets and reduces the consumer education burden that newer brands require.

Chief Marketing Officer Greg Guidotti framed the launch as a reconnection play. "Our new Iconic Pocket Packs give consumers a way to reconnect with the classic brands they've loved, now bringing them back in a new, fresh, convenient, and portable format to enjoy and share wherever they go," he said. The nostalgia angle also aligns with a broader confection trend noted across the channel: retro and heritage brands have outpaced novelty launches in repeat-purchase metrics over the past two years, according to category analysts tracking c-store scan data.

Retail and Merchandising Outlook

For operators, the practical consideration is planogram placement. A $1 item in a recognized package competes directly with single-serve gum, mints and small chocolate bars — categories that typically anchor the front-end impulse zone near the point-of-sale. Ferrara's existing larger pack sizes (4.5 oz, 5 oz, 10 oz and 12 oz) remain in distribution, so retailers can tier the assortment without dropping incumbent SKUs.

Nationwide availability beginning in September positions the line ahead of the Halloween seasonal sell-through window, which historically lifts candy velocity across all c-store dayparts. Buyers finalizing fall planograms should factor the Pocket Pack additions into end-cap and clip-strip allocation decisions now.
