The Lineup

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is rolling out four bacon-themed limited-time offers beginning Wednesday, Sept. 2, running through Tuesday, Nov. 3, at participating locations across its 580-plus-unit U.S. and Canada system. Items are available via drive-thru, dine-in, and through the Freddy's mobile app.

The four LTOs span savory and sweet dayparts. The Smoky Bacon Cheddar Stack returns from last summer — two hand-pressed steakburger patties, four slices of crispy Applewood bacon, melted sharp cheddar, and grilled onions on a King's Hawaiian Bun with Smoky Fry Sauce. New additions include the Smoky Bacon Steakburger Taco (grilled flour tortilla, steakburger patty, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, and Smoky Fry Sauce) and Bacon Loaded Tots, covered in cheese sauce and a cheddar-Monterey jack blend with crumbled bacon. On the frozen custard side, the Maple Pecan Concrete blends vanilla custard with maple pancake syrup and pecans, with an optional bacon mix-in for a sweet-savory finish.

Menu Strategy

Limited-time offers have become a core traffic driver for fast-casual chains navigating value-conscious consumers, and bacon remains one of the most broadly appealing flavor profiles in the segment. For Freddy's, the Bacon Fest platform lets the brand anchor a two-month promotional window around a single ingredient, layering it across burger, side, and dessert categories simultaneously — a tactic that simplifies marketing while deepening attachment across dayparts.

Rick Petralia, Executive Chef and VP of Training & Innovation at Freddy's, framed the promotion as both a crowd-pleaser and an innovation exercise. "We're always looking for ways to innovate while staying true to the quality and taste of Freddy's," he said. The return of the Smoky Bacon Cheddar Stack from its summer 2025 debut signals the chain is using LTO performance data to inform which items earn a second run — a disciplined approach increasingly common among franchise systems managing supply chain commitments across large unit counts.

Channel Relevance

While Freddy's operates as a standalone fast-casual concept rather than a c-store foodservice program, the chain's LTO playbook carries direct lessons for convenience operators developing or benchmarking their own prepared-food menus. Bacon-forward builds — whether on roller grills, grab-and-go sandwiches, or dispensed-beverage pairings — consistently index well in c-store foodservice because they translate familiar QSR flavor cues into an impulse-friendly format. Operators tracking foodservice-at-cstore trends can draw from Freddy's tiered approach: anchor LTOs in the core sandwich category, extend the flavor story into a side, and close with a customizable dessert to lift average ticket.

With over 580 locations and national rankings including No. 6 on Fast Casual's Top 100 Movers + Shakers and No. 85 on Entrepreneur's Franchise 500, Freddy's carries enough scale that its promotional cycles influence ingredient pricing and packaging trends across the broader fast-casual and c-store foodservice supply chain. Bacon Fest runs through early November, capturing the fall traffic window before holiday LTO cycles take hold.
