GEN Restaurant Group has entered into a distribution agreement with C&S Wholesale Grocers, the companies announced June 4, marking a supply chain alignment that extends the wholesale giant's foodservice footprint deeper into the full-service dining segment.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, including contract length, distribution geography, or the specific product categories C&S will supply to GEN's locations. GEN Restaurant Group operates the GEN Korean BBQ brand, which has been expanding its unit count across major U.S. markets. C&S Wholesale Grocers, headquartered in Keene, N.H., is one of the largest wholesale grocery distributors in the country, supplying independent retailers, regional chains, and increasingly, foodservice operators.
For the convenience channel, the agreement is worth watching as a proxy for broader supply chain dynamics. C&S has been an active player in the independent and small-format retail space — a segment that overlaps with single-store operators and small chains navigating post-pandemic distributor consolidation. Any expansion of C&S's foodservice distribution capability could eventually translate to improved service levels or competitive pricing for c-store operators sourcing center-store and prepared-food SKUs through wholesale intermediaries.
The deal also lands against a backdrop of intensifying foodservice investment across the convenience channel, where operators are competing directly with QSR dayparts on breakfast sandwiches, roller grill, and dispensed beverage. Supply chain reliability — specifically cold-chain consistency and order-fill rates — has emerged as a top operational concern for c-store foodservice programs as chains scale proprietary back-of-house menus.
Neither GEN Restaurant Group nor C&S Wholesale Grocers provided an operator quote or additional operational detail in the announcement. Further disclosures regarding distribution scope, launch timeline, or SKU categories are expected as the agreement moves into implementation.
