King's Hawaiian is adding Soft Swirl Cinnamon Bites to its growing snack lineup, placing the new SKU alongside Soft Pretzel Bites at major grocery retailers nationwide. The launch marks the second entry in the family-owned bakery brand's Bites platform, which it introduced in 2024, and signals a deliberate push into the morning snacking daypart.

The product features cinnamon swirl baked into the brand's signature soft, fluffy dough. According to the company, the format is designed to be eaten straight from the tub or warmed — a dual-use positioning that maps well to c-store grab-and-go sets and self-serve heated-snack programs.

The Snack Category Play

The Bites line gives King's Hawaiian a foothold in the ready-to-eat soft-baked snack segment, which has drawn increased attention from both grocery and convenience retailers as consumers trade up from commodity salty snacks. For c-store operators, sweet baked bites occupy a useful middle ground — higher perceived value than a standard pastry, portable enough for forecourt and roller-grill-adjacent snack bays, and shelf-stable in the original tub format.

Raouf Moussa, Chief Marketing Officer at King's Hawaiian, framed the Cinnamon Bites launch as a direct bid for a new consumption occasion. "As we continue growing our snack portfolio, Soft Swirl Cinnamon Bites are an exciting addition, bringing the King's Hawaiian experience fans know and love to an entirely new sweet occasion — morning snacking," Moussa said. Morning snacking is a battleground daypart for c-stores, where dispensed beverage attachment rates are strong but accompanying food sales often lag foodservice programs at larger chains.

Campaign and Retail Context

To back the launch, King's Hawaiian partnered with Taylor Hanson of the pop-rock trio Hanson on a campaign called "Mmmomuments," built around a reimagined version of the band's 1997 hit "MMMBop" retitled "MMMBites." The brand timed the campaign to coincide with the song's approaching 30th anniversary. While the marketing vehicle skews consumer, the retail implication is straightforward: broad national media weight behind a new SKU tends to accelerate trial and simplifies sell-in conversations with category managers.

For convenience retailers evaluating the snack aisle, King's Hawaiian already holds the No. 1 branded roll position in the U.S. That brand recognition can reduce the velocity risk that typically comes with new-to-market baked items. Pretzel Bites, launched in 2024, gave the company proof of concept in the format; Cinnamon Bites extends the platform into sweet occasions without requiring retailers to build a new fixture allocation from scratch.

Operators looking to round out snack and bakery category sets should weigh King's Hawaiian Bites against other premium soft-baked entries gaining shelf presence in the channel. The tub format also aligns with the kind of impulse-buy merchandising — countertop displays near the POS or in the beverage aisle — that drives incremental ring without consuming cooler space.
