The Rollout

Wandering Bear Coffee placed four 8oz ready-to-drink cans — Organic Original Black, Double Latte, Vanilla Latte, and Mocha Latte — into every Target store nationwide at the start of August, completing a two-phase retail push that began in June when three 32oz multi-serve cartons reached roughly 300 Target locations across the Midwest and Northeast. The 8oz cans retail for $3.99 each; the multi-serve cartons are priced at $9.99.

The latte SKUs in the can lineup are built around Wandering Bear's organic cold brew base and ultra-filtered milk protein, delivering 11 grams of protein with half the sugar of the leading canned latte competitors. That nutritional profile positions the line squarely in the better-for-you segment that is drawing sustained category investment from large-format grocery and mass retailers.

Target's Grocery Push

The launch coincides with Target's publicly stated "food-forward" merchandising strategy, which this year added thousands of new food and beverage items weighted toward wellness, protein, and trending flavor profiles. For Wandering Bear, the listing represents its broadest single-retailer footprint to date — exceeding the reach of its June Midwest/Northeast carton launch — and is the brand's most significant retail placement since an exclusive high-protein latte debut at Whole Foods last fall.

Ben Gordon, President and co-founder, called out Target's momentum in a statement tied to the launch, noting the opportunity to bring "accessible wellness" to the Target guest through super-premium cold brew and better-for-you lattes.

2026 Distribution Momentum

The Target full-chain listing caps a busy year of retail expansion for the New York-based brand. SKU growth at Kroger's Fred Meyer division came in April. Pavilions (an Albertsons banner) added the line in March; Jewel-Osco joined in August. A nationwide rollout at Sprouts Farmers Market landed in July, and high-performing seasonal rotations have run through four major Costco regions. That breadth — spanning natural, conventional, club, and mass channels — reflects how premium RTD cold brew has matured from a specialty-channel item into a mainstream refrigerated-beverage fixture.

For c-store buyers and category managers tracking the RTD coffee and dispensed beverage segment, Wandering Bear's channel velocity is worth noting. Cold brew has been one of the fastest-growing sub-categories in convenience refrigerated doors over the past two years, with the high-protein latte subset attracting younger, health-conscious shoppers who cross-shop mass and convenience formats. The Target listing validates the format's broadening appeal and could accelerate c-store buyer interest in the brand's 8oz can form factor, which is well-suited to single-serve cooler sets.

The 32oz multi-serve carton — available in Organic Original Black, Espresso Roast, and Double Latte — serves a different use case, targeting household pantry loading rather than immediate consumption. That SKU architecture mirrors how other premium coffee brands have expanded into foodservice and grocery channels, offering both grab-and-go and at-home formats to capture incremental volume across trip types.
