The Product

AWAKE Chocolate is moving beyond the chocolate bar set, launching Caffeinated Trail Mix — a direct play for the functional-snack space that has been reshaping c-store grab-and-go sets for the past three years. Available in Classic Crunch and Sweet & Salty, each single-serve sleeve delivers 80 milligrams of caffeine (comparable to a small cup of coffee) alongside 5–6 grams of protein, powered by AWAKE's proprietary caffeinated chocolate mixed into a conventional trail mix format.

Single-serve sleeves start at $2.49, with multipacks beginning at $9.99. For c-store operators, that single-serve price point lands squarely in the impulse-buy window that has made caffeinated gum, energy bars, and fortified jerky consistent velocity drivers at the register and in the cooler-adjacent snack zone.

Channel Footprint

The launch is already in-market at Amazon, Kroger, The Fresh Market, Fresh Thyme, Compass Foodservice Dining, Canteen, and Englefield Oil. The brand's most consequential channel news for the c-store trade: Wawa is scheduled to carry the line beginning in October, giving AWAKE a high-visibility forecourt-to-foodservice operator as an early retail validator.

That Wawa placement matters beyond unit counts. Wawa's snack and dispensed-beverage program is closely watched by category managers across the mid-Atlantic and Southeast, and an approved-vendor position there typically accelerates conversations with regional chains. AWAKE already has a presence in 5,000-plus convenience locations across the U.S. through its existing chocolate lineup — sold at 7-Eleven, Costco, Wegmans, and on Instacart — so the infrastructure for c-store distribution is established.

Why It Matters for Operators

The functional-snack category has been one of the more durable inside-sales growth stories in the channel over the past several years, with operators increasingly merchandising caffeinated and protein-forward SKUs alongside energy drinks rather than burying them in a legacy candy set. Trail mix specifically has carried an "energy snack" positioning for decades without delivering measurable stimulant effect — a gap AWAKE is explicitly targeting with this launch.

For single-store operators and regional chains alike, the pitch is straightforward: a recognizable snack format, a caffeine claim that competes with the energy-drink cooler on functional grounds, and a price point that supports impulse purchase without requiring a loyalty-member discount to move. Campus dining and workplace foodservice placements through Compass and Canteen also signal that AWAKE is building a foodservice-at-retail and noncommercial presence simultaneously, which can reinforce brand recognition when consumers encounter the product on a c-store forecourt.

The brand is also running a limited direct-to-consumer promotion — a "Take A Hike" breakup-themed gift box at $29.99 via awakechocolate.com — but that activation is consumer marketing, not a channel program, and carries no implications for the trade.
