Crunchtime, the restaurant operations management software provider deployed across 150,000-plus locations, launched what it calls the industry's first connected operations management suite on Sept. 16, integrating its Kitchen, Ops Execution, and Inventory products into a unified workflow that runs directly on the kitchen display system. The release delivers on cross-product integration promises made when Crunchtime merged with KDS specialist QSR Automations in 2025.
What Changed on the Line
The practical upshot for back-of-house teams: waste logging, prep instructions, and shift tasks now surface on the same KDS screen used to manage incoming orders — no toggling between applications or separate devices. Prep recommendations are driven by AI-powered demand forecasting built into Crunchtime Inventory, with the intent of curbing both over- and under-prepping. Waste entries logged on the KDS automatically update inventory counts, closing a data gap that typically widens during high-volume dayparts when manual logging gets skipped.
"Operational friction often stems from fragmented software that requires teams to interact with multiple disparate devices throughout the shift," said Brian Herr, SVP of Product at Crunchtime. "The connections we're announcing today eliminate these silos, ensuring that daily execution is managed on the KDS, where front-line teams are already working on a familiar system they use every shift."
The integration matters acutely for convenience-store foodservice programs and quick-service formats where labor is lean and line employees are expected to handle prep, waste accountability, and task checklists simultaneously. Any friction that pulls a team member away from the KDS — even briefly — creates throughput risk during peak fuel-and-food periods.
Intelligence Layer Spans the Operation
Beyond the KDS, Crunchtime is connecting its Kitchen product to Crunchtime Insights, pulling speed-of-service metrics, ticket times, cook-time variance, and reservation data into the same analytics layer that already houses inventory, labor, POS, and execution data. The goal is a single performance dashboard for general managers and above-store leaders — the kind of centralized visibility that multi-unit operators running dozens of back-of-house foodservice locations have historically had to stitch together from separate reporting tools.
"With a single source of truth, GMs and above-store leaders can make more proactive decisions and uncover new insights, driving even greater efficiency, consistency, and profitability," said John Raguin, CEO of Crunchtime.
The company counts more than 850 brands as customers, including Jersey Mike's, Five Guys, Wingstop, Smoothie King, and Chili's. Crunchtime plans to demonstrate the integrated suite at FS/TEC in Grapevine, Texas (Booth #404) and the Hospitality Tech Expo in London (Stand #HT1200).
