Restaurant technology company EveryBite and digital experience agency 3Owl have formed a strategic partnership to embed allergen, dietary and nutrition intelligence directly into multi-unit restaurant brands' digital ordering, loyalty and mobile app environments — targeting the gap between what operators know about a guest's transaction history and what that guest actually wants or is able to eat.

The Problem They're Solving

Today's restaurant technology stack captures loyalty status, purchase history and preferred location with reasonable fidelity. What it typically misses is the upstream decision: whether a guest can eat a given item at all, and which menu options align with their dietary profile. For the 33 million-plus U.S. consumers managing food allergies — and an estimated 50 million more with active dietary preferences or nutrition targets — that gap can mean an abandoned order or a lost guest entirely.

EveryBite's SmartMenu lets guests filter a restaurant's menu by allergen, ingredient, calorie count, protein target, dietary category and other nutritional criteria, surfacing relevant items before a purchase decision is made. The platform has recorded more than 12 million menu interactions across its install base, generating what the company describes as first-party intent data — signals that reveal not just what a guest ordered, but what shaped or blocked the decision in the first place.

"A guest telling you they avoid dairy, want 30 grams of protein, or eat a vegetarian diet are telling you something incredibly valuable about what will ultimately influence their purchase," said Lucy Logan, Co-Founder of EveryBite. "Our partnership with 3Owl gives brands an opportunity to use that intelligence much earlier in the digital journey."

How the Integration Works

3Owl specializes in designing and developing integrated digital environments for multi-unit restaurant chains — restaurant websites, native mobile apps, digital ordering flows and loyalty experiences — stitching commerce and technology partners into a single branded interface. Under the partnership, EveryBite's SmartMenu and its API will be available as a connective layer within that ecosystem, linking verified menu, nutrition and allergen data to the guest-facing touchpoints 3Owl builds.

The approach is additive rather than disruptive: EveryBite is designed to sit alongside a brand's existing ordering and loyalty infrastructure rather than replace it. That positions the integration as accessible for multi-unit operators already invested in digital channels who want to deepen personalization without overhauling their tech stack.

"Personalization shouldn't begin at checkout," said Joseph Szala, Vice President and Partner of 3Owl. "The menu is one of the strongest expressions of guest intent. By bringing EveryBite's menu intelligence into the digital experiences we create, we can help brands make discovery easier, reduce friction and create experiences that become more relevant the more we understand about the guest."

What It Means for Operators

For foodservice operators and multi-unit restaurant brands, the commercial argument centers on conversion and loyalty engagement. If a guest with a nut allergy or a high-protein dietary goal can quickly identify safe, relevant items early in the digital journey, the friction between menu discovery and completed order drops — and repeat visitation becomes more likely. The allergen and dietary-preference filtering use case is increasingly relevant to convenience-and-foodservice operators as well, given the continued growth of proprietary foodservice programs at c-stores and the pressure on chains to compete with QSR on digital experience.

The partnership also speaks to a broader shift in restaurant loyalty and digital ordering strategy: operators are moving from transaction-level personalization toward intent-level personalization, using pre-purchase behavioral signals to improve discovery and reduce abandonment. Aggregated SmartMenu interaction data — filtered by ingredient, allergen, diet and flavor — provides that signal layer where traditional order history falls short.
