The Launch
Nutiva is rolling out three globally inspired sauces and marinades — Kung Pao, Teriyaki, and Korean BBQ — exclusively at Sprouts Farmers Market, priced at $7.99 for a 10-oz. squeeze bottle. The organic food brand is positioning the line as a cleaner-label alternative to conventional condiments, built on its signature Coconut Aminos base and blended with organic spices, mirin, rice vinegar, sesame seeds, and ginger.
All three SKUs carry USDA Certified Organic, Certified Gluten-Free, soy-free, and non-GMO credentials. The Teriyaki variety is formulated with 54% less sodium than the leading brand. None of the three contain artificial flavors or gums. Additional retail distribution is slated to follow the Sprouts exclusive, though Nutiva has not disclosed specific partners or timing.
Why It Matters for the Channel
The launch rides a clear consumer tailwind: USDA data shows restaurant and takeout costs continuing to climb, pushing more households toward at-home cooking while their expectations for bold, restaurant-caliber flavors remain elevated. For natural and specialty grocery retailers — and the foodservice-at-retail operators who track adjacent condiment and sauce category trends — the move underscores how branded CPG players are competing for the dinner-occasion dollar by bundling culinary credibility with clean-label positioning.
Korean BBQ and Asian-fusion flavor profiles have been among the faster-growing segments in the global condiments aisle over the past two years, driven by broader consumer exposure to Korean cuisine across restaurant, delivery, and social-media cooking content. Teriyaki remains a perennial top-seller in the category, which is why Nutiva's sodium-reduction claim on that SKU is likely to be a key shelf-edge differentiator.
"We wanted to provide an effortless way to elevate everyday meals," said Abby Stickney, Vice President of Marketing at Nutiva. "By partnering with chefs, we've made it easy to bring authentic, healthy, and restaurant-quality global flavors to the dinner table."
Context for Operators
For foodservice and grocery buyers evaluating better-for-you condiment sets, Nutiva's play is notable on two fronts. First, the Sprouts exclusivity signals that the brand is targeting a natural-channel shopper as its beachhead — a consumer who already scrutinizes ingredient panels and is willing to pay a premium for clean-label pantry staples. Second, a $7.99 retail price positions the line above mass-market teriyaki and Korean BBQ sauces but within range of specialty competitors. If velocity at Sprouts supports a broader rollout, the line could appear in conventional grocery, club, or online channels within the next year, following the same distribution arc Nutiva has used with its culinary oils and Coconut Aminos condiment line.
