Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. is leaning into viral foodservice culture this holiday season, releasing a limited-edition Chocolate Covered Cranberry Sauce four-pack developed in partnership with premium Los Angeles chocolatier Compartés and recipe developer Carolina Gelen. The product, priced at $24.95, is available exclusively through Compartes.com while supplies last.

The collab traces directly to a Gelen social media post from 2023 in which she dipped sliced rounds of Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce in chocolate. The clip accumulated more than 10 million views and spawned widespread fan recreations — the kind of earned, unsponsored engagement that CPG brands increasingly chase as a product development signal.

From Feed to Finished SKU

The resulting product is a handcrafted four-pack of chocolate-enrobed cranberry sauce discs made in Compartés' Los Angeles kitchen. Compartés, which was founded in 1950 and relaunched under Creative Director Jonathan Grahm, positions itself at the intersection of artisanal craft and pop-culture partnerships — previous collabs include The White Lotus, Panda Express, and 818 Tequila. The brand reports selling more than 50 million chocolate bars over its history.

"Carolina's recipe was fun, original and most importantly, delicious," said Kelvin Vuong, Head of USA Foods and Snacking at Ocean Spray. "Partnering with Carolina and Compartés gave us the opportunity to bring that idea to life and show everyone just how versatile cranberry sauce can be."

Grahm framed the flavor pairing in category terms familiar to premium confectionery buyers: "Cranberry brings a bright, vibrant tartness to the richness of our chocolate, creating something entirely new yet wonderfully nostalgic."

A Second SKU for the Table

The Chocolate Covered Cranberry Sauce discs aren't the only vehicle in the partnership. Compartés is also filling its signature handcrafted chocolate turkeys — available in dark or milk chocolate and finished with a branded ribbon — with Ocean Spray Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce. The turkey, designed as a tablescape centerpiece and dessert in one, extends the cranberry sauce use occasion further into the gifting and entertaining segment.

For c-store buyers and category managers tracking seasonal confectionery trends, the Ocean Spray–Compartés collab illustrates a broader pattern: commodity-familiar ingredients (jellied cranberry sauce retails for well under $3) being repositioned as premium gifting vehicles at 8–10x the price point. The $24.95 four-pack plays squarely in the premium seasonal gifting lane that convenience chains have been building out near the registers in Q4. Limited-edition holiday collaborations with social-media provenance have also shown strong impulse-purchase pull in foodservice and grab-and-go sets, where novelty and recognizable brand names drive trial.

Ocean Spray's agricultural cooperative roots — roughly 700 family farms across the U.S., Canada, and Chile — give the brand credibility with operators who merchandise "made with real ingredients" narratives on endcaps and cooler doors. Extending that equity into premium chocolate confectionery is a category stretch, but one the market has validated through comparable fruit-forward chocolate SKUs from brands like Brookside and Russel Stover.
