Mondelez International is rolling three new limited-edition OREO varieties into U.S. retail simultaneously this month — Banana Pudding, Deep Fried, and Chicken & Waffles — and letting consumers determine which one returns to planograms in 2027. The "Twist, Lick, Vote" campaign marks the first time the brand has crowd-sourced a permanent SKU decision, adding a consumer-engagement layer to what would otherwise be a standard LTO drop.

All three packs hit grocery and convenience shelves nationwide on Aug. 24 for a limited time. Presale and TikTok Shop availability opened Aug. 17. For c-store buyers, the three-SKU simultaneous release is worth noting: each variety competes for the same shelf real estate, and the voting mechanic gives the brand a built-in shopper activation tool through Oct. 12 — a roughly seven-week window that overlaps with the fall snack reset cycle many operators run heading into Q4.

The Three SKUs

Each flavor targets a distinct consumer appetite. Banana Pudding layers sweet banana and vanilla pudding creme between vanilla wafer cookies, leaning into the nostalgia-dessert trend that has driven strong c-store velocity for cream-filled sandwich cookies. Deep Fried wraps dark chocolate and fried-dough-flavored creme inside a fried-dough-flavored cookie shell, translating a fairground staple — already a proven draw at foodservice programs and roller-grill concepts — into a packaged-goods format. Chicken & Waffles, the most unconventional entry, features a waffle-textured embossment and a dual-layer creme with sweet-and-savory maple-syrup-and-fried-chicken flavor notes, a profile that mirrors the sweet-heat and crossover-flavor trends that have reshaped the snack and candy category over the past two years.

Rohit Sakhamuri, Senior Brand Manager, OREO Innovation, noted that Mondelez's 2026 State of Snacking report flagged "delicious," "fun," and "tasty" as leading drivers in social snacking conversations. The three flavors reflect over a year of R&D aimed at translating cultural food moments into a packaged cookie format.

Voting and the Sweepstakes Hook

The voting window runs Aug. 17 through Oct. 12 at OREO.com/twist-lick-vote, accessible via QR code on-pack or direct URL. Every eligible vote enters the participant in a sweepstakes for a year's supply of original OREO cookies. The winning flavor is announced Oct. 13 and is slated to join the 2027 lineup for a limited time.

For c-store operators, the on-pack QR code is a ready-made basket-conversion tool that requires no incremental in-store investment. Impulse categories at the register and endcap positions are the natural home for LTO cookie SKUs, and the sweepstakes hook gives front-end merchandising displays a reason-to-buy headline beyond flavor novelty. The snack and packaged-goods segment has increasingly leaned on limited-time flavor innovation to protect shelf turns and justify premium price points — a strategy that aligns with what NACS data has consistently shown about impulse-category performance tied to novelty and scarcity cues.

Matt Foley, Vice President, OREO, framed the campaign as a shift from a one-way product drop to "a dynamic, two-way conversation" with consumers — language that maps to the loyalty and engagement mechanics convenience operators have used in dispensed beverage and foodservice programs to build repeat visit frequency. Whether that engagement translates to incremental ring at the c-store counter will depend largely on how operators merchandise the three-SKU set and whether they activate the QR sweepstakes in-store.
