The Launch
Sazerac Company is entering the U.S. soju category with DALHO Soju, a four-flavor lineup rolling out now through its national distribution network to select retailers, restaurants, and bars. The brand arrives in two bottle sizes — a 375mL at a $5.99 suggested retail price and a category-first 50mL at $0.99 ($9.99 per 10-pack) — putting it squarely within the impulse-buy sweet spot of the c-store forecourt.
DALHO comes in Original, Peach, Strawberry, and Lychee, each bottled at 17% ABV. The Korean-inspired spirit is distilled from grain and named after the Korean words for moon (달) and tiger (호). For convenience operators, the 50mL single-serve is the most immediately relevant piece: it fits neatly in cooler door singles sets alongside existing nip-format spirits and requires no new fixture investment to trial.
Category Momentum
Soju is not a niche curiosity anymore. According to IWSR data cited by Sazerac, U.S. soju volumes are projected to grow at a 16% compound annual growth rate through 2029 — a pace that outstrips broader spirits category trends. The growth is being driven primarily by younger legal-drinking-age consumers chasing flavor exploration and cultural discovery, a demographic that over-indexes on c-store beverage purchases and is already comfortable shopping the single-serve alcohol section.
Korean food and culture have gone mainstream in the U.S. over the past decade, from K-pop crossover appeal to the proliferation of Korean BBQ and fusion dining. That cultural current is lifting soju alongside it. For convenience and fuel retailers tracking the alcohol-at-cstore segment, DALHO's entry from a major domestic distributor gives the category a recognizable supply-chain partner rather than a niche importer.
Operator Angle
Sazerac's existing distribution infrastructure is the practical story here. The Louisville-based spirits company — home to Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, and Southern Comfort, among more than 500 brands — already has established retailer relationships across the country. DALHO plugs into those channels without operators needing to negotiate a new vendor relationship.
"Whether someone is trying soju for the first time or already enjoys the category, the flavors and the 50mL format offer an approachable way to explore the DALHO lineup," said Lauren Selman, Brand Director of Global Growth & Innovation at Sazerac. The 50mL configuration is particularly well-suited to c-store single-serve alcohol sets, where trial price points and small-format packaging consistently outperform full bottles in impulse-driven purchases.
With a $0.99 price point on the 50mL, DALHO lands below most premium nip competitors and at a margin-friendly ring for operators. Retailers looking to build out their flavored spirits and Asian-inspired beverage sets have a turnkey option here backed by one of the industry's largest distribution networks.
