Knorr is rolling out eight new single-serve microwavable cups — four pasta, four rice — at Walmart, Amazon, and retailers nationwide at an MSRP of $1.47 per cup or $11.76 for an eight-pack of a single flavor. The line targets a consumer daypart that c-store operators know well: the harried lunch or snack break where speed and flavor both have to deliver.

The Product Line

Each Knorr cup requires no pot and no stovetop — consumers add water, microwave for two and a half minutes, rest for three minutes, and the meal is ready. Pasta SKUs cover Cheddar Broccoli, Chicken, Creamy Alfredo, and Creamy Garlic; rice SKUs include Cheddar Broccoli, Chicken, Spanish Style, and Chicken Broccoli. The format draws directly from the brand's existing Rice and Pasta Sides franchise, which Knorr describes as America's best-selling in those segments.

The price point and prep format put Knorr Cups squarely in competition with the cup-noodle and single-serve grain sets already populating c-store center-store shelves. At $1.47, the cups undercut many dispensed-beverage-plus-snack combos that convenience retailers bundle at the register, but the margin math on ambient grocery at that price will require operators to weigh placement against higher-turn roller-grill or grab-and-go foodservice SKUs.

The Consumer Tailwind

Knorr is leaning hard on snacking-frequency data to frame the launch. Citing third-party research, the company notes that 71.0% of Gen Z and millennial consumers prefer multiple small meals throughout the day over three large ones — a behavioral shift that convenience retailers have been capitalizing on through expanded grab-and-go foodservice programs and hot-case expansions. Separately, 81.0% of consumers say they snack to carve out quiet time, a figure Knorr is using to justify a brand activation pairing the food launch with cupping-therapy sessions at a pop-up in New York City on October 29.

"Consumers are finding themselves busier than ever, but that doesn't mean they have to compromise on flavor," said Melanie Cappella, Knorr's Chief Growth Officer. "Knorr Cups were created to fit into those real-life moments, delivering comforting taste in a format that works with their day."

The experiential angle — a one-day Flash Cupping Studio at 178 Bleecker St. offering complimentary cupping treatments timed to the product's cook cycle — is a consumer marketing play unlikely to move the needle directly for c-store buyers, but it signals where Knorr sees the bullseye demographic: urban, time-compressed younger adults who already treat convenience stores as a primary grab-and-go meal destination.

Channel Implications

For convenience operators evaluating ambient grocery sets, the Knorr Cups format addresses a real gap. Single-serve, no-utensil-required, microwave-ready pasta and rice have historically been thinner SKU options in c-store center-store compared to cup noodles and mac-and-cheese cups. The two-and-a-half-minute cook time is competitive with most microwave burritos and sandwiches operators already stock in hot-case or grab-and-go cold sets. Retailers with in-store microwaves available to customers — a feature increasingly standard in high-volume travel-center formats — could merchandise the cups near that fixture to drive incremental attach.

With more than half of Gen Z Americans running a side hustle according to Harris Poll data, the brand's core usage occasion maps closely to the convenience channel's peak traffic windows: morning commute, midday break, and afternoon refuel. Whether Knorr can earn and hold shelf space against entrenched ambient competitors will depend on retail execution and repeat purchase velocity in the months following launch.
