PRETZELIZED is rolling out a limited-edition co-branded multipack with Crayola at Target and Whole Foods, priced at $7.99 — a move that plants the Wayne, N.J.-based snack brand squarely in the high-traffic back-to-school set at two of the country's most heavily shopped grocery and mass channels.

The PRETZELIZED x Crayola Sea Salt Pretzel Snackers Multipack contains 10 single-serve bags of the brand's pretzel-meets-cracker snack format alongside four Crayola crayons. The outer box features colorable packaging, positioning the product as part of the lunchbox and after-school routine rather than just a pantry fill-in. The snackers are oven-baked, certified Kosher, and Non-GMO verified.

The Retail Play

Back-to-school is a predictable volume spike for the salty-snack category, and multipack formats in the $6–$9 price band have become a reliable driver of basket size in grocery and club channels. PRETZELIZED, which lists its line across more than 15,000 doors nationwide — covering Pretzel Crackers, Pretzel Pita Chips, and Pretzel Snackers — is using the Crayola license to extend trial at Target and Whole Foods, two banners that reach distinct but overlapping family-shopper demographics.

"Back-to-school is a major reset moment for families, and we wanted to bring something to shelf that felt useful, fun and delightfully unexpected," said Kelsey Skura, vice president of sales at PRETZELIZED. "PRETZELIZED and Crayola are both built on creativity, just in different forms."

For c-store buyers and category managers, the launch is worth tracking as a signal of where the broader salty-snack segment is heading: licensed IP partnerships that give a product a seasonal reason-to-buy without requiring a permanent SKU commitment. The single-serve bag format inside the multipack mirrors the kind of grab-and-go snack packaging that has performed well in convenience forecourts, where impulse purchase drives a significant share of snack volume.

Channel Context

The salty-snack category has been one of the more durable inside-sales contributors at convenience retail over the past two years, buoyed by continued snacking-as-meal-replacement behavior post-pandemic. Pretzel-format snacks in particular have benefited from a positioning that threads between indulgent and better-for-you — a distinction that resonates with both Whole Foods' core shopper and the increasingly health-aware c-store customer. Better-for-you snack innovation at convenience has accelerated as operators look to lift basket rings beyond traditional roller-grill and dispensed-beverage anchors.

Crayola's April Heeren, senior director of Americas outbound licensing, framed the partnership as an extension of the brand into everyday family moments — the same logic that has made licensed packaging a recurring tactic for snack brands chasing seasonal shelf space at major retailers.

The multipack is available now. No channel-exclusive terms or c-store distribution plans were announced at launch.
